Hiralal-er Biyer Aage Ekta Kobita

Kon hashi ta kothaay haashi, ulto-palta birombona.
Bus-er bhire hothath dekha buuk-er khaajer uttejona.

Udor theke pitthi hoye uttejona golaa-e othe.
Ghamchi ami, gilche aamay kolonkito toshok-khana.

“Biye-er porei meye-ra emon pichon theke mutoye keno?"
Aar kota mash, tarpore to kol-tola te aar jabo na…

Chobi ta ki chena gelo?

16 paper boats came floating back to me:

Sorry. I come from half gujju-bong background. My vocab in Bangla is not good. :(

Ah!!! Marriage - that dampener of all that is exciting and arouser (no pun intended) of all that is prosaic.

Given your comment at my blog, I guess I can safely assume this poem too is 'shorochito' ;)

On a more serious note - very nice. I would go so far as calling it nonsense verse for adults. Sukumar Ray might have winked in appreciation had he got to read it. And Chandril might just love it (again, provided he gets to read it).

By the way, I'd be interested to know what you meant with these lines...

"Biye-er porei meye-ra emon pichon theke mutoye keno?"
Aar kota mash, tarpore to kol-tola te aar jabo na…"

bangalir aadda it seems...I wish I was a lil more well equipped to leave bengali verses here...great work overall...much appreciated...

The twist in the tail takes the cake...and also brings the entire picture into perspective as well...

Little Girl Lost-
This time its a bit difficult and my semi-bangla background won't help me, understood only 75% of the poem. And wonder how you have stopped visiting me....!!!!!
